Sad to see another of our long standing business close. Despite the vast sums of money spent on public realm work shops continue to disappear.
I seem to have difficulty recalling the last time a charity shop closed in the town. Perhaps if traditional businesses received the same support a charities the town center would be a more productive place for traders.
Opposite Clarks is a substantial “charity” operation, ask yourself how it and so many others survive.
This Council, it seems, has little interest in the survival of the Town.
Having said that, I don’t recall making many purchases in Clarks. Today we are aware how products are produced at little cost overseas only to be sold at substantial markup here. Knowing the facts, products are simply too expensive for many.
