Not In My Name

Councillor Trevor Cummings

In a statement Mayor Cummings opened an online book of condolence in memory of George Floyd.

“At this time when communities are uniting in the face of a global pandemic, there has never been greater need for us to show care and compassion to our neighbours.  There is no place in society for those who would treat a person differently because of the colour of their skin.

“I hope that the outpouring of support in the wake of Mr Floyd’s death will bring some comfort to his family and community, and send a strong message that people will not tolerate racism.”

But George Floyd was a criminal with a long list of crimes, including holding a gun to a pregnant black girls stomach during a home invasion.

What if that gun had gone off?

The head of the Minneapolis police union called George Floyd a “violent criminal.”

Obviously the police officer involved in this event will be fully investigated within the law, that is how things are done.

It cannot be right that the Mayor or this borough gives support to the baying mob on behalf of a criminal, perhaps Councillor Cummings should have done some research on George Floyd’s past.

Emily Grace Jones was born on 18 January 2013

The Jones family were at Queen’s Park in Bolton on 22 March 2020

“Emily was on her scooter playing. As she rode past a wooden bench, a female sat on the bench suddenly attacked Emily, stabbing her in the neck, causing catastrophic injury”

Where is the book of condolence for this innocent young girl?

How many even know who she was? Yet because of George Floyd her treatment is contrasted on social media.

Emily Jones

Thankfully there are many who are prepared to stand up to this false narrative such as Candace Owens who has been outstanding in her response. She is not alone..

The Mayor states that his filtered book of condolence for this thug will be sent on to the US Consulate General in Belfast. The Consul should be aware that such action is not done in my name, it is offensive to those who, like Candace, are prepared to stand up for truth and justice. Real justice that is, not mob justice!
